About Connect With Success
For the past 19 years, The Student Connection, a tutoring and test prep center, has been dedicated to empowering Michigan students through tutoring and test preparation services. We’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them achieve their academic goals and gain admission to top colleges and universities nationwide.
However, we recognize that not all students have equal access to tutoring or other academic assistance. Many students, particularly those from low-income and underserved communities, face significant barriers to academic success.
Driven by a desire to help ALL Michigan students, we founded Connect with Success back in 2019 to provide free tutoring and mentoring programs to students who need extra support. We believe that every student, regardless of their socioeconomic background, deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Since its inception, Connect with Success has helped needy Michigan students overcome academic challenges and achieve their educational aspirations. We limit our work to 25-30 students each year so we can see them on a consistent basis. By providing personalized support and guidance, we’re working to level the playing field and create a brighter future for ALL Michigan students.
With your support, we can continue to make a difference in our students’ lives. A donation of $50 will cover an hour of tutoring, while $200-$500 will provide tutoring for a month, depending on frequency. Meet Our Academic Directors
Brigid Flynn Godvin
For over 25 years, Brigid Flynn Godvin has worked to transform students into capable learners. She began privately working with students then co-founded The Student Connection, a private education company in 2007 to provide academic tutoring and related services. She formed Connect with Success in 2019 to provide free tutoring and mentoring programs to students who need extra support.
As the director of academic programs for both The Student Connection and Connect With Success, Brigid Flynn Godvin helps transform students into capable learners.
A graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a graduate of Michigan State University, she credits her success to knowing how to recognize the unique talents and wondrous nature contained in every individual. The foundation of her approach is to develop an individualized plan for each student, based on his or her unique strengths and weaknesses, interests and goals. Based on individual needs and unique learning styles, she helps students discover how becoming a capable learner also makes their own path through the world easier to navigate.
Brigid is a member of various national professional organizations, including CHAD and ADD. In her work, she advocates on behalf of children to help them get the academic and other support they need from public and private education systems and institutions in order to succeed.
Michael Godvin
Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Detroit, and both an MBA degree and an MSE degree in systems and industrial engineering from the University of Michigan, Michael Godvin worked for many years with data processing giant Electronic Data Systems – EDS. With his extensive background in science, statistics and mathematics, he today serves students who are taking AP math classes in high school and college students who are studying math and its applications in various subjects and at all academic levels. He also makes a special connection with college level engineering students. Michael also enjoys helping strengthen students who are studying Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry.
